AWARDS

If you’re part of the [people who care about these awards], then in doing so, whether you like it or not, you’re subscribing to the reality of these awards; that the majority rules them, and if you want to win, you better get off your ass and do some promotional work. Just because your comic is better than one of the nominees doesn’t mean the world is going to flock to your self-perceived greatness and if you’re the only one who thinks you’re great, then you’re not great, you’re a bit of a narcissist, and I suggest you go for the other option of not caring about awards.

Original newspaper art

My impression is that sales of art in the "comic book" world is pretty common now and it's also something many web-based creators have pursued. I don't know if this is common or not with newspaper artists.
I remember seeing originals of editorial cartoons (and I think some strips too) on sale in galleries and second-hand bookshops when I was staying in London ten years ago.

PDFs don't work on iPods

True story.

You CAN get them off iTunes though becasue the iTunes store is quickly realizing it's bigger than the device that made it famous.

If the idea intrigues you, Clickwheel has had lots'a comics as PDFs available through iTunes and through the CW site for a while now, and I'll be working on pushing that idea harder on the soon.
