Okay, maybe I'm being dense, but I've never looked at one of these Toplist things before, and I'm not sure what it's actually measuring. I thought it was counting the number of people going to my comic from my entry on the top list. Or possibly just functioning as a counter and measuring the number of people looking at my comic in general.

But then I clicked on the Toplist button on my site, and it gave me the option of voting? Or possibly not voting? How does this work, exactly?

That's a Gateway

The gateway screen is to prevent people from taking advantage of blind links - by clicking on voting you're confirming that you want to vote for that comic. Other than that step though it is measuring people going from your comic to the site.

The site right now is ranking sites based on their statistics over the last 7 days on a rolling basis (well I'm pretty sure about that).   I thought I'd see how that worked before considering any other options.Â
