One of the phenomenal cosmic powers bestowed upon bloggers by the gods of the internet (including but not limited to the former vice president Al Gore and that poor fat kid with the invisible light saber) is the ability to foist their opinions on unsuspecting victims. This is a power this reader relishes. So today I am going to pimp some comics I think you should be reading: Cosmobear, Havesomehats and Sluggy Freelance.

1. Cosmobear by Clay Yount:

Cosmobear is brand spanking new. Its written and drawn by Clay Yount of Rob and Elliot fame and I think it has alot of potential. As I said, its new, and only a couple of pages are up. Its drawing style is a more polished version of what we see over at Rob and Elliot, very clear and evocative. The writers voice is kinda sorta like an early Bone, if Bone had starred a furry Russian cosmonaut and took place in the American Midwest. Anyway, I think the mixture of humor, adventure, and cold war intrigue has potential and I think you should support it so Clay will keep drawing it.

2. Havesomehats by Kyle Parker

HSH is not, in the strictest sense, a comic at all. What it is a collection of panels pulled from uncreated comics, deviod of context but full of emotion, humor, and pure bizarreness. Each comic generally involves two weird looking people or funky geometric shapes talking, fighting, or riding somewhere, saying something that doesn't make sense but is full of humor and bizarreness or, even more often, loneliness and loss. The art is a kind of stylized dootling (and each panel is called a dootle along those lines). I have spent an hour and a half on two seperate occasions trying to figure out a good way to explain why this comic is great, especially given its crummy site design. I have come up with nothing. But I will say this. if you like White Ninja or Whispered Apologies, you will like this comic.

3. Sluggy Freelance by Pete Abrams

Right now you are probably asking yourself why I am pimping sluggy. Everyone knows of sluggy. Most of you probably read it or used to read sluggy, and then quit because you lost interest, didn't like a story line, were sick of the lack of resolution etc. And that's fine. But I really think you should give sluggy a chance again. Pete is finely cleaning up some of these dangling plotlines. Over the last several months we have gotten more information on Oasis, Aylees fate is going to be revealed in the next two weeks, and all signs seem to point towards Torg and Zoe finally gettin' back together. So I say give it another shot, if only for nostalgias sake.
