Marvel's Civil War

Now mind you, it's not often I get to go to my favorite comic store to do some reading. So when I had the chance I checked out Marvel's new story arc "Civil War". Now I must say that I have always loved Marvel, their stories tend to be engaging, griping and their characters are usually awesome. But My first critique, is that this current story arc seems to be the Mirror of the Successful DC series "Kingdom Come" basically where the earth's greatest Heroes are locked in a Civil war (Dyuh hence the title). Now this is where it gets painful; It seems that after an explosion caused by a Superbattle that levels a city in Conneticut, the US government decides that it's time to enact the Metahuman (Mutant) Registration Act. This of course pisses off a bunch of Heroes like Captain America while cash whores like Tony Stark Get with the program and start trying to enforce it. Sounds simple right? Well it gets worse, Reed Richards becomes even more of a mad scientist, Sue, Johnny and eventually Ben leaves... Peter parker reveals his secret Identity etc and etc... What really Cheese me off about the series, Is not so much the art (Which is great) or the writting (Which is Okay), but how frelling close to reality Civil War really is. WHat's worse is that as I am reading this, I keep thinking to myself is "Superheroes Should Know better". To see Groups fall apart, People do stupid stuff in the name of the government (Which everyone knows is out to SCREW YOU), And to see Characters like Reed Richards Iron Man and Spiderman turn so Dark, so quickly, I am genuinely pissed. Then I think for a moment, Were I in a similar position would I make the same choices? I hope not...I value my freedom a little too much than to trust the government to enforce a policy like the MRA. Still I have to say that the writers at marvel are really pissing me off but not enough to say "Not going to read another Comic again" I just feel so dirty seeing the characters who stood for such High Ideals turn into such low-life scum. Third Riech anyone?
