I got inspired by Peter Venables' 22 Little Panels Project tonight and decided to give the challenge a shot.
The project in short:
What are the rules? Rules? No rules! Well, aside from the suggestion that you take Wally Wood's original 22 panels and draw them yourself using whatever materials you see fit, using whatever characters you wish, and in whatever size you wish.Woods original panels
I decided to go for a zombie theme because zombies are fun to draw and zombie panels only have pretty much two facial expressions: fear (on the faces of non-zombies) and... well zombie expression on the zombies. I only got four panels done tonight, but I hope to do them all
Back in 2005 I wrote a feature for Comixpedia trying to make some estimates on how many women were involved in webcomics. I always wanted to do it again, but there was a whole lot of number crunching necessary to make it, and I am in no hurry to do that again.
Now it's 2007 and I'm surfing the net and come across the announced lineup for Flight vol. 4 and that gets me thinking.
Print on demand comic book printer ComiXpress have been having technical problems forcing them to stop accepting new tasks. ComiXpress president Logan DeAngelis responds in Rich Johnston's Lying in the Gutter column at Comic Book Resources to creators concerns that ComiXpress has been unresponsive and not providing information on sales.
Since I haven't been contributing much to Comixpedia in a while I feel a bit iffy about promoting my own posts to the frontpage so I thought I'd just compile a short list of newsitems here for the taking.
In an email sent out today to all users of OnlineComics.net, they announced the start of a new venture named ComicSpace.
I'm mailing all comic creators in the OnlineComics.net database to let them know about a new site I've started called ComicSpace.com. As the name implied, it's a lot like MySpace, but with the added benefit of being focused entirely on comics. Within a week or two, comic creators will even be able to host their comics on ComicSpace. Even if you're happy with your current hosting situation, you can use ComicSpace as a promotional and networking tool.
While OnlineComics.net is dedicated to providing notifications of updates (as well as some community functions), the features of ComicSpace (besides hosting) are not outlined on the webpage or in the email sent out.
This years Child's Play (the charity founded by Penny Arcade creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins) has begun. Last year it raised US$ 605,000.
