All you have to do to poke someones curiousity

Oh what fun stuff I found today.

"Queer Women in Webcomics" - looks like Queer webcomics are less than 1% of all webcomics out there, good thing or bad thing?

"'Man of feel' may save us from endemic homophobia" , looks like it wasn't enough for Superman's canadian origins to come up (again), but he has now become a posterboy for the gay community. Oh and, Superman returns is now in theatres today.

I think she's writing only

I think she's writing only about lesbian comics written by girls. I am not a girl. I am a man.

Wow, I didn't know Superman

Wow, I didn't know Superman was a gay icon. Now he can join Batman and Wonderwoman. Suddenly, making the Utopian gay in our comic Johnny Saturn doesn't seem so odd.

Quite the opposite, Scott.Â

Quite the opposite, Scott. Given that just about every mainstream character has now been adopted as an icon for some self-styled "interest group" or other, it seems the only way to be controversial these days is to make your lead characters exclusively white, male, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant heterosexuals.

Hey, what a great idea!  That'd really set the cat among the pigeons!

The question is, what's more

The question is, what's more important?

1: Comics written by / drawn by queer folks targeted specifically towards a queer audience.

or

2: Comics in which there are a fair share of well-written queer characters.

Personally, I'd think 2, but it seems that most of these articles focus on 1...Â

Both are equally important,

Both are equally important, for different reasons.

Gay is the new Black

To tell the truth, I'm none too happy with the explosion of gay characters in comics.

It reminds me of an earlier explosion of Asian characters in comics, or an even earlier explosion of Black characters: Just another sub culture to romanticize/ fetishize that will eventually get dropped for another pseudo-taboo.Â

Yes and no. I'm happy to see

Yes and no. I'm happy to see characters like Maggie and Hopey -- especially as they age and whatever. And graphic novels like Fun Home. Less interested in, say, Batwoman. But that's me.
